Feature: Enhanced Fraud Detection

Learn how to use Referoo’s enhanced fraud detection to flag suspicious referee activity and trigger identity checks for hub clients.

Feature Description (Available for Hub Clients):

This feature detects suspicious referee activity using smart triggers like unusually fast responses, VPN usage, and mismatched IP locations. When triggered, the system can either alert users or initiate identity verification, helping improve the reliability of reference checks.

NOTE: ID Checks are available for all HUB clients as a free feature.


Step 1: Request Feature Activation

​To use the Enhanced Fraud Detection feature, all activation requests must be directed to your Referoo Account Manager. As this feature is available exclusively for Hub clients, your Account Manager will assist you through the enablement of this feature and ensure it’s configured to suit your needs.

Step 2: Access the Fraud Detection Settings
Once the Referoo team has enabled the feature for your account, you'll find a new option called "Fraud Detection" under your Referoo Settings. This is where you can view and manage the feature’s configurations.

Step 3: Review and Understand Fraud Detection Settings

In the Fraud Detection settings, you’ll see a detailed list of fraud detection types along with their descriptions. Each type comes with two default actions: "Warn Me" and "Start Identity Verification", both pre-set with a specific Severity Rating.

  • "Warn Me": Sends an email alert to notify you of potential fraudulent activity, including the type of suspicious behaviour detected.

  • "Start Identity Verification": Automatically triggers an ID check if the detected activity meets or exceeds the assigned Severity Rating.

Step 4: Save Your Settings

Once you've reviewed and adjusted the fraud detection options and severity thresholds to suit your needs, make sure to save your changes. This ensures all selected actions and custom severity settings are applied and active in your account moving forward.
