Q: What documents do I need for a UK Right to Work Check?
The types of document that you will need to complete a UK Right To Work check depends on your nationality and what kind of permission you have to work in the UK.
The type of document that you provide also effects the method by which your right to work in the UK can be checked.
If you’re a British or Irish citizen
If you’re a British or Irish citizen, you can prove your right to work in the UK with either of the following:
a British passport
an Irish passport or passport card
If your passport is current we can usually complete the right to work check digitally.
If your passport is expired or you have an Irish passport card then that is fine, you can upload these when requested.
If you do not have a passport or passport card, you can prove your right to work by uploading one of the following documents:
a UK birth or adoption certificate
an Irish birth or adoption certificate
a certificate of registration or naturalisation as a British citizen
If you are not a British or Irish citizen
If you’re not a British or Irish citizen, you can prove your right to work with:
A sharecode (apply for a share code online)
Alternatively using your immigration documents such as below:
a current passport with a Home Office ‘endorsement’ in it
an immigration status document
an application registration card
